*-------------ABOUT KIM-------------*
With a struggling economy and people out of work, the word frugal is becoming something that families are using more often. Do you ever wonder how you can feed your family a healthy meal, when you are barely making ends meet? I am going to give you a few tips on how you can fix your family healthy meals on a tight budget, and maybe lose weight at the same time.
Bring a sack lunch If you work outside the home, it's probably easy to just "grab" something for lunch, but how much money would you be able to save if you 'brown bagged' your lunch? How much healthier would you be eating? Chances are, you will eat more nutritiously and it will cost you less.
Drink Water Approximately 60-65% of you body is made up of water, so it is extremely important to drink water everyday. Not only is water better for you, but drinking water rather than coffee or pop will save you money.
Make a List If you are looking to save money, you need to make a list before you go to the grocery store. How many times do you go to the store only 'needing' a few items and come out with a cart filled with bag after bag of unnecessary things? It is important to have a list and stick to it if you are shopping with a limited budget. Replace items like chips and cookies with fruits and vegetables, it's less expensive and healthier for you.
Bulk Shop Shopping in bulk can save you a lot of money and if you are careful, it can be healthy as well. Buy low-fat meats in value packs. When you get home, divide that meat into individual packages and freeze it. That way you only use what you actually need. Instead of buying expensive low-fat desserts, go for the fruit. Your wallet and your body will thank you.
Pass on the name brand items It isn't necessary to buy brand name foods. You can get some really good generic foods and it will cost you a lot less. You can also get some great deals at canned food outlets. If you feel you need to buy name brand products, wait for the sales ads to come out.
