If you want to make sure that you are walking hard enough to benefit your heart and lungs while walking, ain for 125 steps per minute for 30 minutes. Right/Left counts as two steps, and 2,000 steps is roughly a mile.

~~The Amber Alert Ticker~~
What is the Amber Alert Ticker?
For those of you who have never seen one of these tickers, it broadcasts information pertaining to child abductions. You could save a child's life by displaying one of these tickers on your sites. It is a small java script code that can be placed in your HTML in your website. It is very easily added. To get a FREE ticker, go to CodeAmber.org.
What is an Amber Alert?
As stated on the website:
Each program establishes its own AMBER Plan criteria; however, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children suggests three criteria that should be met before an Alert is activated.
-
law enforcement confirms a child has been abducted
-
law enforcement believes the circumstances surrounding the abduction indicate that the child is in danger of serious bodily harm or death
-
there is enough descriptive information about the child, abductor, and/or suspect’s vehicle to believe an immediate broadcast alert will help
If these criteria are met, alert information must be put together for public distribution. This information can include descriptions and pictures of the missing child, the suspected abductor, a suspected vehicle, and any other information available and valuable to identifying the child and suspect.

Recipe of the Week |
~~Swedish Spiced Cookies~~
Makes: 60 Servings
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cup All-purpose flour, sifted before measuring
2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Ground cloves
1 tsp Ground ginger
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
1 tsp Ground salt
3/4 cup Unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cup Sugar
1 Egg
1/4 cup Molasses
Preparation: -
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Have ungreased baking sheet(s) ready.
Sift together the flour, baking soda, spices and salt; set aside.

Beat the butter and 1 cup of the granulated sugar in large bowl
of an electric mixer on high speed until light, 1 minute. Add the egg
and molasses; mix well. Stop the mixer and add the flour mixture.
Mix just until combined.

Using about 1 1/2 teaspoons dough for each, roll dough into
balls. Roll in the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar so they are
fully coated. Arrange on baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
If you prefer a thin, crisp cookie, they may be flattened with a
glass that has been dipped in sugar.

Bake until set, 9 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let
cool.

"I don't want a new baby."
This was my oldest son Brian's response when I told him his father and I were expecting a third child. We'd survived the first round of sibling rivalry when his brother, Damian, was born. But now three-year-old Brian had made his stand about this new baby, and neither logic, reason, nor persuasion could budge him.
Puzzled, I asked him, "Why don't you want a new baby?"
With wide and teary eyes, he looked straight at me and said, "Because I want to keep Damian."
