Create a Mindful Life
"Today, like every other day,
We wake up empty and frightened.
Don't open the door to the study and begin reading.
Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground."
~Rumi
How many times a day do you feel not altogether "there?" Do you
spend most of your time in a daydream? Many people live a disconnected life as a
means to feel more relaxed and content. But unfortunately, this is a false sense
of security. The key to having a true sense of calmness and inner peace is to be
well grounded, experience the present in its fullest, and appreciate each moment
of life with a lively intensity.
As human beings, we are spirits contained in physical bodies. We are here to
experience, explore, and enjoy all life's gifts. But when we spend our time
disconnected and distant, we miss great opportunities to grow, learn, enjoy,
meet people, and live a life full of wonderful possibilities.
How does one reach this blissful state of mindfulness?
Practice the following simple yet profound technique everyday. Spare just 10
minutes each morning or evening to engage in this exercise. Remember it
throughout the day and you will notice how much more "in the present" you are,
how your life gains more sense, how your relationships with others become more
real and profound.
First, prepare your "Mindful Blend" using this recipe:
In a 10-ml bottle, pour the following essential oils, then add an organic
vegetable oil to fill:
9 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil
5 drops Cypress Essential Oil
5 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil

to order the essential oils you need to make your blend.
Anoint your third eye (6th chakra) with this blend. Begin utilizing one-pointed
attention to cultivate calmness and stability. Then move beyond that by
introducing observation and an element of inquiry. When thoughts or feelings
come to mind, don't ignore or suppress them; nor should you analyze or judge
their content. Rather, simply note any thoughts as they occur and observe them
intentionally and without judgment, moment by moment, as events in the field of
your awareness.
